Holy. Smokes. People ask about the best tenderloin in Indiana? It's this right here. Thick, crispy, and tender - this is the real deal. My husband and I got one to split and they generously brought out two plates, two buns, and two portions of garnish. The pretzel is huge with a chewy, pillowy interior and a thin crisp exterior. The place looks so cool, too. You can smoke inside and most of us aren't used to that, but it wasn't too crowded and, therefore, not smokey.

Nestled in Parke County, Mecca Tavern is the kind of place where the pork tenderloin isn't just a meal--it's a phenomenon. This platter-sized marvel is so massive that I enlisted a third person to help me finish my half. A true feast for the ages! The tavern itself is a delightful mix of quaint charm and rich history, making it the perfect backdrop for our epic pork adventure. The prices are so friendly you'll feel like you're robbing the place (in a totally legal, socially acceptable way, of course). The service was a tad slow and our order had a minor hiccup, but let's be honest--the stellar food and warm vibes more than made up for it. We'll definitely be making the drive back--because when you've got tenderloin this good, you'll forgive a little delay.

We can't get pork tenderloin sandwiches in Ohio. Mecca Tavern had a great one. Large, meaty, all of the buns and condiments you want. Onion rings were very good. Very much out of the way but worth the trip.

Mecca Tavern is a cool, historic dive bar that caters to everyone. HUGE pork tenderloin! We decided to split it and that was a great choice- the waitress was very helpful and suggested we order extra bread to help us devour. One thing to know: While smoking is allowed, you can hit the patio if that bothers you.

TL;DR excellent, affordable, giant, breaded tenderloin. Smokey bar but has covered outdoor seating. Our drive here was 90 minutes and solely for the breaded tenderloin. It did not disappoint. It's thin, crispy and flaky, leaving crumbs all over the table. It could feed three. My wife and I shared it and took enough for another sandwich home. We also got a side of onion rings. For $4, it was a large portion. The bartender waited on us and was attentive. They serve Pepsi so it was a great excuse to get beer which were $3. No taps though. Only cans and bottles. Misspellings on the menu added to the charm and appeal of this place. Pro Tip: smoking is allowed in the bar which fills the small room. On the bar side of the wall is a door leading to outside to a covered area. Had we known, it would have made for a much more pleasant visit.

Lunch today at Mecca Tavern did not disappoint. The BPT was big enough to serve 3-4 people and was delicious! The only downside for me is that the tavern is still a smoking establishment, so you have to be able to tolerate that. Friendly staff. They have outside tables that we probably should have sat at, but once we were there a while it became a little less of an assault on the nose. Definitely would recommend if you are able to get to their neck of the woods to try them out! I'd say their BPT is in my top 5. Apologies for the poor photo that doesn't do it justice, lighting in the tavern wasn't great for taking pictures.

One of the best tenderloins I've ever had. It was enormous! Thick and tender... this little hole in the wall place is the kind of place you hope to find when running the roads! Definitely worth the trip out there! Delightful staff!

Mecca Tavern is one of those out-of-the-way places that everyone should try. It's an old bar in the middle of the sticks, but it serves some of the best tenderloins I've ever had. We will take the bike out there again. I would definitely go back sooner than later if it wasn't so far away

Established in 1899!! This place looks like it's about to fall down, talk about a hole in the wall. We got a tenderloin to split it was HUGE!! We cut it into 4 pieces and only ate half. We also got the fried cauliflower, mushrooms and jalapeño cheese curds. All delicious!! $25 for all of that and 2 beers. The service was great and we didn't wait long. Only complaint I like my tenderloin thinner but my husband loved it. We will definitely be back. Don't be scared...just walk in!!
